Holmes was a coke head, It is pretty hard to believe that someone strung out on coke would be able to solve crime, so bond.

Holmes was until casino Royall was Sean on film because until then Evey one for got that bond is emotional and it also explains how he became like he is so ill say Bond (people like him exist wear as people like Holmes not so much)
oh and Holmes did not come back from the dead he was rummer to have died not actually proved that he did his body was never found but it is all explained in the novel the hound of the Basakavils

Holmes, no doubt about it. He even did drugs to cope with the black spells of depression he fell into on account of his superior intellect, and was into the habit of going to his older and smarter brother Mycroft for help when he didn't know what to do. Watson even figured out one or two mysteries himself when Holmes was too busy or embroiled in something else.
On the other hand, Bond never ***** up or needs help and is virtually perfect, except for his alcoholism, hence Holmes is more realistic.
