First of all, you have to stop your water main source. Then buy a new faucet and take off the old one. Use a special adhesive rolled on the new faucet. It's probably kinda hard but I've gone through it hihihihi....

Most faucets use washers to stop the water flow. A few pinch off a plastic tube. Those are supposed to last 'forever', so I'll assume yours is a washer system. Turn off the water below the sink at the little turncock near the floor. Open the faucet to make sure it is indeed off. Pop the plastic or metal screw cover off of the handle. Remove the screw you just exposed, and pull the handle up and off. Now use a wrench to loosen the hex nut the you should have exposed. Lift the assembly off and inspect the washer. At this point you should probably take the whole assembly to the hardware store so you can compare it with what they have. Then just replace the bad parts and reinstall just like you took it apart. Turn the water back on and you are done!

Probably you have a compression type of faucet though there are four kinds. You can either take your washer to the store to get the right size or buy a multi-pack of assorted sizes before you tackle the job. If you are not sure if it the hot or cold leaking turn off the cold shut-off first and see if it stops leaking. If it doesn't stop leaking then it is the hot.
The following websites will give you instructions on how to repair all four kinds with diagrams. Hope this helps it is actually really easy to do a great DIY project.

99% of the time a leaky faucet is a worn out washer. That's the little plastic ring inside the handle. Take it apart (in order so you can put back together in reverse) and take the plastic ring to your Lowe's or Home Depot or hardware store. Get the new one in your faucet and VOILA!
Just be sure you reassemble it in the right way. I've found making a chart helps if you've never done it before.
It's easier than it sounds.

depends on what kind of faucet. some have rubber seats under the h/c handles that can be replaced. others have a single lever for both h/c . witch they sell repair kits. either way you need to turn the water off under the sink before you make repairs.

regrettably there are a kind of styles of taps and reckoning on the type there are different failure mechanisms. some may even leak in numerous ideas. once you've the favor to save money you are able to a thanks to do it. a million) Shutting off the chilly water going to the tap is step one. 2) initiating off any ornamental cap is the 2d step. If there isn't any seen screw, the screw must be lower than an ornamental piece. Use something very skinny like a knife blade to get lower than the ornamental piece and intensely intently pry the piece off (Use care so that you do not spoil the knife as which will be risky. also, do not pry with the end of the knife. you're virtually particular to interrupt or bend it.) in case you will get the cap fairly off you are able to then swap to a screwdriver. think about to artwork your way around the parameter of the piece as you pry once you're attempting this. 3) once off, eliminate the screw that you'll be certain and then wiggle the ornamental valve deal with off. 4) once the deal with is off you'll see somewhat which will require a wrench to eliminate. Screw it counter clockwise till it truly is off. 5) Pull out the inerds of the valve and seem into all surfaces heavily. you are able to favor to finish a touch disassembly of what you've pulled. attempt to make certain precisely how the valve seals at the same time as it closes, and what floor it seals on. seem into those surfaces heavily. I somewhat have some valve plugs for older Kohler taps the position once they initiate leaking, the flowing water cuts a groove contained in the sealing floor. in case you locate metallic that has been eaten by water flow the purely right element to do is replace the area. Homestores carry some factors, yet others think about to reserve off of the web, or stumble on a dealer of that valve on your section that sells factors on your certain valve. good luck!

if it is leaking where one of the pipes connects then it is an easy fix. thur the water off by turning the hot and cold valves to the right. Take the pipe off and put plumbers tape around where the pipes screw together. Put it on the threaded side. wrap it around abuot five times. that should fix your leak.

Likely it is merely a washer. The repair is super easy requiring only a screw driver. Go to any hardware or home improvement store and ask they will be glad to show you.
