It depends on how you are feeling. I left work at the end of week 31. For the first 22 weeks of my pregnancy I had the most awful sickness imaginable (throughout the whole day) - that exhausted me. Then came the great few weeks when I felt brilliant - this lasted for a short time - then became big, heavy and tired, and as my work was shift work and I was working 12 hour shifts per day and travelled 80 miles each day, I decided 31 weeks was my lot. I was glad I did that, it really is necessary you put your feet up before the baby arrives, you need your own time to get prepared physically and mentally for this life changing event. But like I already said, everybody is different and some women sail through the pregnancy and feel well enough to work til the end. Also you may want to consider that if you take early maternity leave, you will have less time (paid time off) with your baby before you are due back to work. At the moment it is 6 months paid, going up to 9 months in April 07 I believe (you can have additional 6 months unpaid depending on how long you have been with the employer). So there are a few things to consider, but you and only you know your situation. In any case, I think leaving 2 weeks before is a good idea in any case.

I worked up til 3 weeks before due date. I was hoping baby wouldn't be late so as not to waste my leave. Luckily he was on time. It's nice to have some time before the baby arrives to enjoy some peace and quiet as you never know when you will have that again. Saying that, the more time you can have after the birth before you go back to work is so important for getting to know your new bundle. I wish i could afford to stay at home fulltime! good luck in your choice x

With my first born I have no choice but to leave work 2 weeks early my job was causing issues for me. This time round I hope to stay at work to as close to my due date as possible, well without my water breaking on the production floor lol. I've seen tons of women leave a month early to a couple of weeks seems to be the norm. The only thing with that is, here in Canada, we get a whole year off the earlier you leave work the less time with your baby. Think about when you'd like to leave but take in consideration, how much time you get off and how much time you want to spend with your actual baby!

I finished work on the 9th of August and my baby was due on 9th September. I would have worked longer but with it being summer I just wanted to be at home in the nice weather. She was actually born on 30th August so I'm glad I finished when I did.
With my son I had to finish about 6 weeks before he was due because I had a sore hip and ended up with crutches.
I would say work as long as you can then you have longer with the baby after it is born

Yeah, it totally depends on the person. I'm 25 weeks into my first pregnancy and I work part time as a waitress. I plan to keep working until at least mid-February (I'm due in March). But if I was working with something where I could sit down more often, like a desk job, I'd keep working as long as I could.

It really depends on how u feel. Some people work right up to a few days before their due date.
You can always say your maternity leave wil start on your due date and take a coupleof week annual leave, this way you will keep all your maternity leave and come off earlier

Depends on you and your job. I've off since I was 28 weeks. I work with racehorses and my boss moved to Louisana. All other trainers here in Chicago were scared to put me to work for fear I would get hurt by a horse while pregnant. Otherwise I would have loved to have up closer to my due date of January 22, 2007. I am currently 34 weeks.

With my first child I was going to stop work about three weeks before her due date. She on the other hand decided to show up on my last day of work. I had to call into work on my way to the hospital

it depends on your job, and how you are feeling in your pregnancy. i planned to work up to 36 weeks, but my job required a lot of energy and i just felt exhausted. i ended up finishing at 34 weeks. my baby was 2 weeks late so i had 8 weeks to put my feet up and prepare for labour and the new arrival. You really do need this break as when the baby comes you will be sleep deprived and so on. i would say work untill you feel ready to finish, and once you finish make the most of it. put your feet up and enjoy x

It all depends on how you feel.... I would say probably about 2-3 weeks before baby's due date.
