My mom was a young grandma too (41) and she did not like the idea of being called "grandma" but inevitably, my daughter called her "gramma" and it stuck. My mom is 50 now.
Do you have any cute personal nicknames you could spin off of?

First how young are you? You wouldnt think you would want a nickname, you would think that you'd be proud to be called grandma. And didnt you say you were about to become a grandmother? So what are you worried about you will be 2 years older by the time the child starts to talk. You have a while to worry about it, its not like the child will be calling you GRANNY! So if you are going to be a young grandmother and your child is old enough to have one you must have made your mother a young grandmother too. What did your child call her? My 2 year old calls my mother gumpy. Good luck on not being shallow.

Whats wrong with being called "grandma" thats what you are.
It sounds like you're ashamed to be a "grandma" at a young age.
Get over it.
