Recently Newzealand govt. shown its anger on Indian men's hunger for dowry, thousands of cases we here. Even after higher qualifications and well paid jobs why these "STUPIDS" need dowry? Do they think they "anable" to feed their wife or offspring or what ? I never understand Indian mindset. What "U" want answer "sincerly PLZZZ". Girls also can post their views. (RaaJ)

I'm a married man & I never took any dowry even 25years back but got a very loving wife. Now my daughter is getting married & neither me giving any dowry nor my would be son asking. After few years when my son gets married we are not going to ask or take any dowry. So in our family we dont follow the trend of dowry but definately we look forward for really loving spouse which is more important for us. OK.

A good wife. One can become rich by working hard, if you are rich today, and if there is some bad luck then you may loose all the money later. A good wife is there to stay with you in those bad times. I agree that there are still people who prefer money over good qualities of a wife while taking their decision regarding marriage but the scenario is now getting better, where the educated class looks for a compatible partner, a friend for a marriage instead of big bucks in dowry.

From what I understand of Indian culture, it is because it apparantly makes the wife more suitable if she can produce money. This is so sad because one young girl who I support along with her family is so upset because he is demanding a very high dowry and she comes from a very poor family. She is frantic to find the money as she really wants to get married.
I do believe that this is wrong, one should marry for love only, wheter rich or poor as long as the love is pure and rich this is what should count.

Yes Wat u said is correct. But u have to note one thing. As u said people with higher qualifications and well paid jobs are also taking dowry. I want to clarify one thing abt this. These people will definitely top class people only. So his bride will definitely give dowry even if he opposed for that. In their cases, we dont have any problem. But in cases of middle class people, dowry is one of the source of income to the family. So it is taken for that.

But the current trend is taking of dowry is happening in the case of only backward and middle class people but not in the case of people said by u. Definitely this is to be eliminated. But the govt has to take proper steps for this.
