queen of the damned movie was decent enough. Aaliyah was a total knock out. But the movie deviated from the book. Jesse wasn't an important character, in fact, she was hardly mentioned in the book.
i saw the movie before i read the book and from that perspective, i cant appreciate the movie as a whole because, quite honestly i didnt understand some of it. Where did those other characters come from? it was not until read all the books, did i start to understand. For me, the movie kinda sucked because it left me hanging. they should have just concentrated on one aspect of the story and remained faithful to the original version rather than make changes.

Cess...I agree....unfortunately, as with all books that Hollywood turns into movies, they seldom remain faithful to the book itself. If there isn't some hook (sex, romance, tension, etc), they feel people won't pay to see it. Its too bad....a lot of good books and some great ones have made box office smash movies, but were not something that a reader would want to see again. Look at Lord of the Rings....I think its sad that generations of kids will see the movie, not read the book, and feel like they know what its al about...know what I mean?

They did change much of the plot when the movie came out, which upset me. They did this with Interview with the Vampire, also. Probably to hide the gay themes.

I agree that the Queen of the Damned movie sucked.

Didn't the actress in the movie die half way through? I'm not sure but if she did maybe that's why it was so bad. They might of had to piece it together. I read the book first and still couldn't follow the movie. It was a real stinker.

I did read it, and saw the movie as well.

I didn't really like the book, but I am not an Anne Rice fan. I like her stories, but the books are too overwritten. By that I mean she uses way too many words to tell the story. It gets tedious.

I didn't read it but loved the movie. I miss Aaliyah. She was good in the Jet Lee movie too.
