I'm very comfortable, but haven't always been. The older I get the more I realize how little what other people think of me really matters. Learn to love yourself first.

No because before any else can love me, I must be in love with myself first. So I show off the real me because I must love myself no matter what goes on. Because if I try to hide and cover up the real me then it all means nothing.

Everyone deals with times of insecurity. EVERYONE. Even for a moment. Sometimes people hold back their real selves for the sake of someone they like or because of their family. I, myself, went through several years of insecurity and uncertainty. I'm the youngest of three and there is a large age difference between me and my siblings. They still, despite me being a grown woman, treat me like the "baby sister." It has taken many years to get out of their shadow and their "protection." Even now, when I tell them of changes I'm making in my life -- my career, the men in my life (good and bad), etc. they still tried to interfere instead of letting me make my own mistakes, gain my own experience, learn my own lessons. It took a while, but I am my own person and I'm standing on my own. If they don't like decisions I've made, that's their problem.

Yes, but it's something I'm trying to work on improving!
I think I'm very perceptive to other people, so in any given situation, I am quite easily aware of what other people expect of me. As a result, I often feel pressure to act the way they think I will act, because if I don't, it causes a scene.
For example, I have a kind of baby-face look -- I look very young for my age, and I look very innocent and naive. In my opinion, I am actually not very innocent and have seen and experienced a lot. But if I ever say anything even remotely raunchy, people make a huge commotion about it, like, "Oh my god, did you just say that? Everyone, k_zmng just said blah blah bblha! Can you believe it? Oh my god! blah blhal balhalh..." and it's really annoying!
So to avoid that, I've learned to sort of hide myself and just be the way people think I am. But I find it very confining, and I don't like it. So this is something I need to work on.

Before my teenage years, i used to flaunt my 'skin', appreciate my skin and the like.
When I hit puberty, I didn't like my skin because of acne and I was getting rashes at places I didn't like. Since I hate chemical-based cosmetics (becasue they dry up my skin), I had to experiment myself on so many cosmetics.
But now I'm in my 20s and dumped my cosmetics for a year. I claimed back my flawless skin by eating properly and start using fruit based or natural based cosmetics with caution. Although I still have that occasional breakouts, I have come terms with my skin and appreciate my skin as it is.

Long story short, I used to not be comfortable, and alcohol was that false empowerment. I have since quit drinking and stopped smoking and at the present I am going back to college to get a degree. I have been in counseling for 3 years, I am definitely improving in my growth and feel more comfortable about myself now.

No one is completely comfortable in their own skin, even if they say they are. Everyone can look in the mirror and find something that they would like to change. That's just human nature. No one was created perfectly.
