The sky by itself is colorless, or at least has no visible light, but, it takes its color from the sun, the wavelenghts that we can see depend upon the hour, because the hours determine our position in respect from the sun, so in almost all the day, (if there arent too many clouds or air pollution) we see the shortest wavelenghts of the light, (blue and purple), but our eyecones only detect blue, because they get saturated, and in the mourning and dawn, we can see the sky with red and orange near the sun because their wavelenghts are bigger, and we have enough distance from the sun, but in fact all the colors of the rainbow are inside the sky, in some way, its just that we can't see them if there isn't a prism or something that can separate them, and of course if there isn't light the sky is dark.
