I am 21 years old and can't seem to grow a full beard. I have been shaving "whiskers" since I was 13, but even now I only get random hairs on my face. I could let them grow for months but it wouldn't even resemble a beard. I just figured, at my age, I should be able to grow full beard, but it just seems impossible. Is this the way my facial hair will be forever?

Nope. It's just genetics. Some guys can grow a beard like Santa Claus and some just have a few wispy strands. Many Asian guys have hardly any beard. You may get a few more hairs as you get older, or you may not. Did your father, uncles, grandfathers, and other male relatives have bushy beards?

Best is to just accept that what you've got is what you've got, and it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things.

Can Anyone Grow A Beard

Not really, if you want to grow a beard at a early age, say 13 or 14, the reason for that could be you have seen a man older than you with a good beard and you wish to look like him by say the time you are 20. If you are lucky and develop hairy legs, arm pit and pubic hair around when you are 13 or 14, sometime soon after that facial hair should come as well. In that case do not shave at all, at first you will look a bit scruffy, however that phase soon passes with a boy who has a quick growth, by 15 or 16 you should have a reasonable beard while going though your college years, hopefully other guys will have some facial hair as well, the trend now a days is for many young teenagers not so shave at all until they are 20 or later. So if you have a good beard by 20, it could be quite thick my then, its up to you if you wish to shave it off or never shave at all.

No, lots of races don't have much facial hair, and not all caucasians do either--probably in your genetic background there were other races involved at some time.
Many guys don't have full beards but just patches, so they can't grow a beard--usually only a moustache. Generally if you have little body hair, you have little facial hair either. Guys that seem to do often shave or wax body hair.

Don't worry luv!

My hubby was trying to grow a full beard since was 15 or so, and only after he reached 24 or so was his beard full & thick enough to be evenly spread throughout his face!

I think you may need to shave reguarly and be patient about such things. Do note that once your beard start growing fully, you will need to trim it and shave it more often than you'd like to!

At 21, the physical package is pretty much completed, so the short answer to your Q is yes.

But if you are really set on sporting facial hair, guys with sparse beard growth do better with 'detailing' than full beards.

Guys your age like to do this, there are several variations, e.g.: a thin-line chin-strap deal that basically outlines the jaw; the horizontal line thing from the lower lip, down the center of the chin; sideburns grown of spare facial hair can actually look very sexy in a youthful way; and of course, there is always the ever-popular goatee.

It's very age-ist for me to say this, but these solutions might be okay in your 20s, but after 30, unless you can grow a thick full bear, then stay away from it. Just my opinion, though, to each his own. It's just that the maturing face (wrinkles, worry-lines, jowels) doesn't jibe with fine youthful-looking facial hair.

But the great advantage of sparse facial hair is you will be younger looking longer!

I dont know what the problem with me is as well. I get a great goatee and lots on my neck. On my cheeks and down to the bottom of my jaw is really sparse. I am not sure why I can not grow a full beard. It is annoying because I would rather grow the beard. It is annoying to shave daily.

shave off all your other body hair (and I do mean ALL) then employ an 8 year old chinese girl to braid them all together. Using some superglue attach the braided excess body hair to your face and voila instant sexy man beard.
