"Bad " dreams are our unconscious trying to get our attention to deal with issues in our life that we are generally not willing to deal with. The more we avoid issues in our life that have impacts on us the more the dreams will be there to bring our awareness to the issue that needs healing / balancing. Everything is symbolic and personal. There are some symbols that are universal however the majority are personal. Face your fears in your dreams and the waking world will change as well the two worlds are intimately connected. there really are no bad dreams as they all bring awareness. By be-ing impeccably integral with the choices you make in your waking life the fewer nightmare you will have. Some may be old issues coming forward from childhood to be healed.

Yes, but it's been a while. I think they may come from some subconcious fear one may have. Sometimes they are so unrealistic but still fearful. You can watch a movie without a problem but dreaming is different because it's seems to be really happening to you.
I found this site:
http://www.emedicinehealth.com/nightmares/article_em.htm
I think I'll read it.

Dreams come from angels who like to play little games with your mind, when its at it's weakest. Nightmares come from demons, who also like to play games on your mind, but with harmful intent. During pre-game warmups a coin is flipped and whoever wins the toss gets to access the brain first.
ps- wet dreams come from overtime ties.

Something that shocked, disturbed, or scared you, and it got stuck somewhere in the back of your mind, or your mind placed it somewhere to forget it in the back of your mind, and it creeps out and takes on a life of itself and becomes a nightmare. ???
