No, I would not rush him to the doctor just yet. I would call and let them know what symptoms he is having and see what they recommend. Just keep taking his temperature, rectally, and as long as it stays below 102F AND he seems happy, he should be okay. If his temp gets to 102F, or if he seems to be really unhappy or acting like he doesn't feel good, then I would rush him to the doctor.
I am a first time mom too, so I completely understand your concern. I have a 4 1/2 month old daughter who had a terrible cough and cold a couple weeks ago. Aside from her terrible cough and stuffy nose, she was happy. When I called her doctor, they told me that I could get some Pedia Care Cough and Cold to give to her. They keep it behind the pharmacy counter. Check with your son's doctor and see if you can give some of this to him and ask what the correct dosage for his age/weight would be and how often you can give it to him. My daughter's doctor also said not to worry unless her temp got to 102F, in which case I should bring her in right away.
You can also put a humidifier in his room to keep the air from being too dry.

Sometimes and it is dependent upon who I get for my son's appointment. Some appointments cross good and I am capable to invite all that want approximately my son's prognosis, however a few days they only look to wish to get us out of there. I recognise correct now at my OB hospital for my prenatal appointments, the healthcare professional overseeing my care acts find it irresistible's a chore to do as an alternative than a blessing to serve and do what she loves. She under no circumstances has given me time to invite questions that I suppose are most important and may be very pushy approximately wherein I must have my child and the way no health center will take me if I refuse an HIV experiment (what??). It's loopy. But yeah I do suppose rushed plenty of the time.

I would definitely get on the phone with the doc. Have a list of your concerns, the babies symptoms, and temperature readings ready. You want to make sure you don't forget anything. Make sure to ask under what conditions would the doc want to see the baby and under what conditions would you need to get to a hospital. You want to be prepared. The doc will probably want you in right away to get a listen in on those little lungs.

My daughter has a bad cough like that too I think its the weather, I wouldnt say you would have to rush him to the doctor but if it gets any worse or last for awhile I would call his doctor and tell them about it.

No reason to "rush" to the doctor. Baby's get colds often. If there's no trouble breathing or anytihg I'd just watch it for a day or two. You could also, just leave a message for your Pediatrician to call you so you can talk to them.
Prop the crib mattress up a littlebit if he starts to get stuffy it drains. (we put a blanket evenly across the underside of the mattress for my son.)

Its not an emergency but it is wise to make a doctors appointment for today or tommarow so they can just do a quick exam and offer you medical advice on how to care for him while he is sick..it does not sound urgent but it is helpful to find ways to ease his discomfert..he probably just has a cold..but it could be something more who knows..either way its wise to check it out.
