Remove the valve cover and check the lash between the valve and rocker.

You really can not see a collapsed lift as it all internal. The easy way you see it is to remove the valve cover and start the engine ( oil is going to go every way so have someone start the engine for you so once you spot the dead one you can turn the engine off) and watch the rockers.Look for the rocker that is no moving or moving alot less than the others . This while be the cyl with the callapsed lifter . Good luck and I hope I helped

You give no year or model. Lifters last a long time. Are you sure you have hydraulic lifters? What makes you think they are bad?

From what I gave seen on the internet, the 3000GT must suffer from lifter problems. I thought this was a good car to own when it came out, but now I'm glad I didn't jump on one.

Sounds to me like you'll have to start tearing it down to see what condition the motor is in.
