a) Na has 11electrons , 10 on inner shell and only one on its outer shell. Soit is an electropositve element giving its electron valence 3s
Cl has 7 electrons on outer shell. to complete it, Cl needs only one electron and picks it from Na to fill the shell M (number 3)
So has the two elements need only to exchange a sigle electron they will do it.

b) Molten NaCl ha s a great number of positive and negatine ions so it conducts electricity

c) they should form as valence of carbon is 4 a molecule with 4 bounds which difficult.iodine needs only one single bound

D) Not sure of my answer but isuppose that interactions between iodine molecule is small

a)
Its easier for Cl to take in one electron than to share 7 electrons with Na.

b)NaCl in molteon form is Na+ and Cl-, both of which are ions and are able to conduct electricity.

c) Carbon has 4 orbitals to form covalent bonds, hence the resulting structure is large whereas for iodine, it only has only one orbital.

d) Intermolecular bond (van der Waal's forces) between iodine molecules are weak, hence they are easily broken when a small amount of energy is added.

a- ionic vs. covalent depends on the difference of electronegative
b- if it is ionic that explains it all ionics when liquids conduct electricity
c-sorry I don't know interms

I believe sodium chloride is ionic because there is ann unequal sharing of electrons, due to chlorine being more electronegative.
