I at least passed two of my classes with B's or better, but I'm pretty sure I failed the other one. People act like it's the end of the world for me, but I fail to see that. Am I that disillusioned or am i right?

It is not the end of the world. If you feel that you put all the effort into the class that you could, but you still didn't pass then that is just life. Some classes are just hard. If you didn't put all the effort that you could have then you wasted someone’s money.

Read your school rules and see how this will affect you. If it is a class that you have to take for your degree then you will have to retake it. If you retake a class many schools won't just replace the old grade with a new one, but will average the two together.

Also note that if you used financial aid you could be responsible for paying back that money if you do not pass the class.

Note that you may be put on academic probation by your school. This is not a big deal as long as you improve your grades next semester. If you continue to fail you could be kicked out of your school or at the very least your degree program.

See the below source on suggestions on how to study.

So you are right it is not the end of the world. But it is a sign that you need to reflect on why you did not pass and what you can do to avoid this next time.

If you repeat it and get a good grade that replaces the failure, then it's not too bad. Otherwise it can really hurt the GPA and of course it sets you back time-wise. I still ended up being on the Dean's List 3 times after failing a class (well, actually 2, 1 in each semester of freshman year) but I barely made over a 3.0 by graduation.

It depends on the school and your status. Some colleges allow for Freshman Forgiveness. Some dont. In which case, you'll need to work your behind off for the next few years to make sure that your GPA is at least high enough to graduate. It's harder to get out of the whole, but if you're a freshman/sophomore you have an opportunity to do so.

While it may not be the best possible scenario, I hardly think it qualifies as the end of the world. I flunked a few classes when I was in school, and I still graduated; if any of my potential employers saw my transcript (difficult without my express permission), nobody ever seemed to worry about it. I'm getting ready now to go back to school, and the grad school seems to be a lot more interested in my 99th percentile GRE scores than my GPA from my BS, which was still a prefectly respectable 3.2 out of 4.0

Live will go on, of course, but your GPA will go way down.
If you want to continue on an academic career, this will severely handicap you and getting financial aid will be more difficult.
Is there no way you can talk to the instructor/professor and ask for a possibility to earn some extra credit?
Believe me, some day you will be grateful that you did.

I failed lots of classes in college. I retook them, and life goes on. No permanent scarring.

Nah, no big deal. Just re-take it because it won't count.
