not all emos sit in corners and cry and cut are wrists...some of us are emo for the music we listen to and how we dress....and are personalities...we are crazy ppl!! we like to have crazy fun..take risks and such!!! GEEZ PPL!!! Know what your talkin about before you start talkin about it!!!

i am emo...because of the music..i am an emotional person...i get upset easily and lil things get to me...and i know emos are wierd thats what makes us stand out...thats what i meant by "crazy fun"...lol

Uhm... "emo" is not a genre of person. There are no people classifications... We're all just people. So, you're a person who listens to emo music, dresses a certain way and likes to take risks. That's who you are. You saying that all people who are like that are "emo"?
And I'm an emotional person, but I don't dress weird and I don't cry while listening to some boys wailing to music.

Because people like to categorize other people, thus making them easier to reduce to a stereotype, which are the first steps toward making them the object of ridicule, or even hatred.
Showing contempt for certain races, or genders, or religious groups is no longer accepted in most societies, so the culture will isolate social groups to attack. Some people have a need to feel superior to the the ones that are different, so they will always find a group to belittle.

If they're not like the stereotype then why do they dress that way?Or listen to that music?The fact is is that they really are alike. If they don't want to be called different or weird then they shouldn't dress the way they do and act like they do. I don't hate emo's I think they are slightly disturbed. And I consider somebody emo because of the music they listen to, if you listen to depressing music then you are depressed to, and if you dress weird then you are emo, honestly if you are emo then you are weird, maybe not completely psychotic but slightly weird in your thinking.
