I loved it. It really made me think about how things are going to be when freedom of choice is gone. And bekah, how would you know what it's about or if it's stupid if you didn't read it? Must be great to be homeschooled by someone who doesn't allow you to form your own opinions about a book.

Obviously Bekah 2009 didn't read the book and find the value in it. It is a cautionary tale about the danger of not questioning those in power. Free-thinking people tend to really enjoy the book. I thought the book was amazing, and it is true that several people do express a disappointment about the ending. The author intended the ending to be ambiguous, and I tend to believe that no matter what you think, it is an optimistic ending. It is definitely a "must read".

as far as Bekah 2009's response about a book being bad because people are killed in it, I recommend looking at:
http://www.evilbible.com/Murder.htm
which points out all of the murder in the bible.

I thought it was a good book. Not sure what the second commenter read, but they don't use a knife... it's a lethal injection (with a needle. By the way not all books are nice and happy and sweet). Apparenlty it goes over a lot of people's heads... it's about conforming and freedom. It's very symbolic and a good book, I thought

I really like the story, but was disappointed with the ending. I liked how it explored just how excessive the desire for 'normal' and 'sameness' could end up.

And no, there's nothing about sticking a knife through a baby's soft spot. They are injected and it is cruel. But the story does not glorify the cruelty. It's really about those who are waking up to what goes on and want things to change.

I didn't really like that book. It was too way out there for me. If you like very surreal things that are out there it is the book for you. You have to remember alot of details. Some of my classmates loved it. It's a love or hate type of book.

that book is sooooo stupid and mean...I am a 15 year old christian and had to read the book for school and refused too. It talks about killing the lightest baby by taking a knfie to the soft spot in the babies head...thats child abuse and thats just wrong...That book shouldnt even be allowed on shelves...or if it is it needs to have a parental control on it because i was in 6th grade when i was required to read it for school. and my mom pulled me out and now im homeschooled but anyways i was like 13 or 14 when i was supposed to read this book and thats just rediculous...this book is very very stupid and pointless if you have children i would not allow them to read it. my mom read it before i did. well drammy if u would read my whole anwser i put "my mom read it before i did"
