No, I drove up just when they were stabbing the beast with their steely knives and they couldn't kill it. That gave me the clue to keep driving.

Actually, the supposedly real Hotel California is in a little town called Todos Santos, about an hour away from Cabo San Lucas in Baja California Sur (where Sammy Hagar owns a bar called the "Cabo Wabo"). I've been there and it's cool. There's a good beach for sufring about 20 minutes from there, so there's a fair amount of foreigners (about half the people in the bar spoke English as a first language).
The hotel's slogan is "On a dark desert highway since 19XX" (don't remember the exact date).
Didn't have the pink champagne on ice, though.

One thing: don't ask for wine.
Also they seem to have a programming error: You can checkout any time you like but you can't never leave.

No, I didn't! I don't recommend the place either. The food was most foul. In the Master's chamber we gathered for the feast, they stabbed it with their steely knives, but they just couldn't kill the beast! That's when I decided to go. They said I can check out but I can never leave. I said I was only going to my car to shut off the engine. They said OK. I got in my Mercedes and took off!
