Who can tell, it would force the public to choose between say John McCain's and Hillary Clinton's war credentials. It would also reduce the perceived responsibility of George bush, as the war would extend to an other presidents watch.
You can be sure that is the intention, and the only way to prevent this, is for congress to cut off the war funding.

The Republican defeat will come.
Its important that US cooperates with Iraq's neighbours. Bush's policies isn't going anywhere, accept carnage.
The violence in Iraq is worse than civil war. There has just been a series of car bombings and many people died. It Bush's policies thats partly causing all this.
Whether or not US troops should withdraw should be determined by the political environment. No country can achieve anything by pretending to be superior to others.

Doubtful since 90% of the Democrats who took over the house and senate seats in this past election promised to get the troops home soon. Since its nolonger a Republican majority making the decisions for when to bring them home why would the Republicans be at fault for having the troops still there. They said bring them home well bring them home
Break a promise like that and still win a higher power seat I don't think so but we shall see what happens it also depends on who the Democrats put up for the election
As of current it sounds like its probably going to be a woman who can't make her husband keep his pants on or a black guy who hasn't been in politics that long and since the country has alot of racist and sexist people in many areas it will surely be an interesting election

Probably, the media has convinced everyone that the war in Iraq is a failure so I'm sure they'll do their best to do the same in 08 if Republicans don't cave in to liberal pressure.

Why would it be the republicans fault? Remember, democrats will control the Congress for 2 whole years, and if they are incapable of doing what they said they would do to get troops out, that will be no ones's fault but theirs and hopefully, voters will hold them accountable.
