Right click on My Computer and go to Properties. Go to the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button. You can see it there, expand the "Sound, Video & Game Controllers" section.

Assuming your using windows xp then device manager will tell you - start/settings/control panel/system/hardware/device manager then look under sound and video controllers

A good place to find this info is the directx diagnostic tool. go to the run command and type dxdiag.

Right click on my computer icon,go to properties,then click hardware,then device manager.find which sound card you have.
