Islam uses a lunar calendar, that changes slightly every year compared to the gregorian calendar used in western countries. So an Islamic holiday moves slightly sooner every year, and doesnt adjust to match up to the western calendar.
For example, Ramadan took place in October/November this year. In a couple years, it will start in September, and eventually move back into August.

because Islamic calender is different from gregorian calender, each so often islamic holiday journeys fall around an identical time as christmas. Islamic calender is going by the moon and falls returned i think of 11 days returned or forth (i'm no longer thoroughly helpful which). Like this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, our 2d pageant, Eid-ul-Adha (Eid of Sacrifice) is falling around on the tip of december or the two 1st or 2d of january. wish that helped!

This year, Eid Al-Adha, one of the most important holy days in the Muslim calendar, will be celebrated on December 30th/31st depending which country you live in, and will last for 3 days. It celebrates the end of the yearly pilgrimage to Mecca, and ever year the date changes because it occurs 70 days after Ramadan, which depends on the sighting of a new moon to begin (the Muslim calendar is lunar).
During Eid, Muslims sacrifice a lamb or sheep, in remembrance of Abraham, who was willing to sacrifice his son to God (God sent down a sheep instead at the last minute). It's important not to waste any part of the sheep, but the most important thing is to give at least a third of the meat away to the very poor (another third is given to friends and neighbours, and another third kept for yourself), and to make sure that no Muslim in your community is hungry or impoverished. Many Muslims in the West do not sacrifice an animal, instead they will pray and make charitable donations. Also, there are fun celebrations :)
If you meet a Muslim on Eid, you can say 'Eid Mubarak' to them, to wish them a happy Eid.

Not every year, it depends on the calendar: Islamic Bayrams (Holidays) vary; this year the Kurban Bayramı (The Sacrifice Holiday) will begin on Jan. 02; so it's kind of close to Christian Holidays' timing; next year it'llcome earlier than Jan. so even closer;)

yes on the 31st of December they will celebrate Bairam . I tis a feast where they offer sheep or goats as an atonement & they believe that they follow the example of Ismail the son of Abraham.( in the Tourah & the bible, the story refers to Isaac, however not in their scripture) . The date is not fixed , it just happened this way this year. They follow a lunar calendar.
