Does that affect the performance of the computer? Moreover if I change frequently according to the website I am viewing.

For example: Sony Ericsson website uses 1024 x 768 pixels while Yahoo! uses recommends 800 x 600 pixels.

It depends ... if you are using an LCD monitor then you should keep on on what is referred to as "native resolution" (see the manual or look up specs on he manufacturer web site).

If you are using a CRT monitor, then it's a matter of preference. If it handles 1024 x 768 well & is easy to view ... why not use it all the time (also refer to monitor specs for refresh rates, etc...).

The only limitations on performance are on your video card. It require more video ram to run more graphics. If you don't notice a difference then don't worry about it.

It can affect the performance, depending if you have a very old video card or not. I use 1024x768 and it works fine for most things. I think the higher the resolution the better, as long as you are comfortable looking at the screen. Most LCD monitors have a "Native Resolution" that it should be set on so that everything looks good.

Most LCD monitors have a screen whose native resolution of 1024x768 which is good. You say that yahoo requires 800x600 in fact you are wrong yahoo works better with 1024x768.So why to worry.

the screen resolution depends on the graphic card of the pc. if the graphic card is an older version, opt for 1028x 768, cause 800x 600 will slow down the pc. if it is a newer version, then you should opt for 800 x 600
