Spanish fly was originally intended for animals. If you take too much, it's poisonous to humans, and can cause kidney damage. The problem is, the safe dose and the dangerous dose are way too close to call, in people.

That stuff they sell doesn't work. It's more of a gag gift. I was stupid enough to try it when I was younger, my wife and I tried it to see if it worked and it didn't. We got a couple bottles as gag gifts after we got married, just got a good laugh out of it.
