Long Story Short. I got married last month and my period was suppose to have happened on MY wedding day so I began birth control to push back my period by one week. My husband and I had unprotected sex twice this week, after I received my period and I just realized that those dates were my original days of fertilization BEFORE I used the birth control and my cycle changed.

I understand that while using birth control, the "periods" you get are no longer good markers for your fertilization days. For the past two days I've been feeling a bit "strange": feeling very tired, having extreme headaches, and for the past two days I've been feeling extremely nauseated and light headed and I don't feel hungry. Am I just being paranoid or is there a good chance that we may be pregnant? I can't get this off my mind... Anyone had something similar happen to them? I know it makes no sense to take a pregnancy test now that I should wait until after I miss my period.

If you are already having symptoms, then a pregnancy test should show positive if you are. Get one of the good ones that can check you before you've missed a period. Keep in mind that it is possible to get pregnant while on the pill and it is also possible to have a period while on the pill. One more thing, the pill is not effective until after a full month's use, so if you had unprotected sex before then, you could quite possibly be pregnant now. Go get the store test and if it is negative and you continue to have symptoms, get to the doctor for a blood test to be sure. You do NOT want to be taking the pill if you are pregnant. Best of luck to you and congrats on the marriage!

1. Birth control pills are not effective for at least 2 weeks. I can't believe your doctor didn't tell you that!
2. Periods do often become irregular with birth control so a missed period isn't always worrisome- but if you just started it, your system shouldn't be that out of whack period-wise.
3. Maybe you are having an adverse reaction to the pill. All the hormones don't jibe well with some people.

* So basically- take a pregnancy test and call your doctor about the effectiveness of the pill + see if you could be having an adverse reaction.

The first month on the the pill is not considered protection against pregnancy anyway because its not in your system good yet.

You could be pregnant but your best bet is to wait until your due and test.

Yes you can get pregnant. Nothing is 100%. It sounds like your showing sings of being pregnant. I wouold go get a test. You can get test that show up to five days before a missed cycle. Good luck to you!

Taking the pill just for a little bit to change your period protects you from nothing. take a pregnancy test.

If you just started your birth control, you are supposed to use an alternative method during the first month or two - in addition to the birth control pills. Your doctor should have instructed you on this.

It takes about three months for the pill to regulate your system and beging to really protect you from pregnancy.

I would say go test yourself. It's estimated that it takes 30 days for BC to be effective.
