I am looking for some recipes that are traditionally served at Christmas and are easy to make. I am seven months pregnant so the easier the better. I am serving around 10 people. Any ideas for appetizers, main dishes and dessert will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

I know my way around a kitchen, but all of my recipes take a great deal of time. The less time I have to spend on my feet the better off I am.

Christmas is definitely not banned. I don't really care if people get offended by the usage of the word Christmas or the words Merry Christmas. There is a great thing in America that is called freedom of speech so to all who are offended or not... I hope you have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

You could order a cooked turkey from your local grocery store. They usually have side dishes too. But a must at my family gatherings is punch with the frothy stuff. All you have to do is mix fruit punch, 7 Up and pineapple sherbet! So easy!

Congratulations on the baby!

SALMON MOUSSE

1envelope unflavored gelatin
¼ cupcold water
½ cupboiling water
½ cupmayonnaise
1 tablespoonfresh lemon juice
1 tablespoonfinely grated onion
DashTabasco Sauce
½ teaspoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoonsalt
2 tablespoonsfinely chopped dill
2 cups finely flaked poached fresh salmon or
canned salmon, skin and bones removed (tried this with fresh salmon, and believe it or not, prefer the canned version!)
1 cupheavy whipping cream

1.Soften the gelatin in the cold water in a large mixing bowl. Stir in the boiling water and whisk the mixture slowly until the gelatin has dissolved. Cool to room temperature.
2.Whisk in the mayonnaise, lemon juice, grated onion, Tabasco, paprika, salt, and dill. Stir to blend completely, and refrigerate until the mixture begins to thicken slightly, about 20 minutes.
3.Fold in the salmon. In a separate bowl, whip the cream until it is fluffy and forms peaks. Fold it gently into the salmon mixture.
4.Transfer the mixture to a 6-8 cup bowl or decorative mold. Cover, and chill for at least 4 hours.

12 or more portions - serve with your favorite crackers.

I am serving 10 people for Christmas lunch and I have decided to do something very different. Traditional Christmas takes many hours of prep time and baking time so.... I am having a mexican themed lunch. Chicken Enchiladas, dips, salsas and Flan. It is different and won't take much time.

I like the following 2 nice, easy sides
Macaroni Salad: Boil elbow macaroni, strain, chill. The day of the even, mix in Mayo, relish, diced celery, olives, grated cheeze.

Candied Yams: Buy canned yams (perferably Princella), strain 80%, smash yams till smooth, mix in brown sugar, pour and level in pasta baking pan, bake till slightly darker, place mini-marshmellows accross top to desired topping, and continue heating for 10-15 mins.

Enjoy!

Isnt Christmas banned? Reading the western newspapers, it seems like anything to do with Christmas is NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT.
I live in africa, so I dont know whats going on in your land, except for what I read in newspapers.
