Yes, when used correctly, birth control pills can be up to 99% effective. They need to be taken at the same time every day, and you can't miss any days. What birth control does is gives your body hormones that makes your body think you're pregnant so it doesn't conceive again. There are many pros and cons to birth control. If you are just starting to take birth control and are young, make sure you take one with lower hormones, you won't need a very high hormone pill. The more hormones in the birth control pills you take, the more side effects you will experience, for example gaining weight and swollen breasts. Some of the pros are decreased cramping, less headaches, and more often than not a much shorter period. Anti-biotics can also decrease their effectiveness, so be sure to use a back up method if you are taking any kind of anti-biotics. It also can take up to a month for the birth control to get the proper amount of hormones into your system to be effective, so once again use back up. Also, keep in mind, birth control can prevent pregnancy but can not stop you from contracting a STD, so be sure to still use a condom! Hope this helps.

Birth control pills are 98% to 99% effective for women who take the pills every day as directed. Pill-taking mistakes decrease effectiveness!!

They've been using them for years - i've never experienced nor heard of anyone around me who's used birth control pills to become pregnant during the time they were using it. Although they do have many side effects depending on which one you use and for some people work quite alright. I for one had a bad experience but it's different for everybody.

Yes, oral contraceptives do work with a 98% effective rate. The only work, of course, if taken exactly as prescribed which is usually daily. The 2% failure rate is usually linked to missing a day (not taking the pill).

They do if you take them properly. At the same time every day for 21 days and then a 7 day break. I can't remember all the rules but think that if you miss a pill for more that 6hrs then you should use a condom aswell for 7 days.

All very complicated - just remember to take them at the same time everyday,.. I keep mine in my makeup or with my underwear so i see it when I'm getting ready in the morning

Yes, they work if instructions for taking them are followed to a T. Antibiotics will make them less effective, being sick (i.e. vomitting and diarrhea) will make them less effective. Not taking them at the same time every day or missing days will make them less effective. I've never had a problem...however, both times my aunt became pregnant she was on the pill.

Has always worked for me, but I do have a friend that has a baby because she was stressed or something (as what her doctor said) and the pills and her body weren't working together. Still gotta be carefull...

Ive been on the Pill for 5 years now.
I have unprotected sex all the time (with my boyfriend-not the whole world) and I haven't gotten pregnant once.
Just make sure you take it EVERY DAY. RELIGIOUSLY
