I just got my period and have tried to use a tampon. i cannot get it in. in some cases is it nessecary to break the hymen or am i just not doing it right? I have read up on how to use them and looked at diagrams and can't find out what I'm doing wrong.

Yeah I used to have that problem when I was first learning how to use tampons. Really, it's a game of trial and error because everyone is built differently. I found the best way for me was to stand up and insert the tampon. Other people stick a leg up on the bathtub or just sit on the toilet and do it successfully. But it has seemed to me that the easiest method is to stand. And like others have suggested, the slender fit tampons do help. Good luck; it gets easier.

Dear you are most likely not doing it right. Maybe you could try some vaseline just before you put it in. I recommend pads.
Some women have no problems with tampoons while others like me, it makes them feel kind of sick. Maybe you can ask your mom or an aunt.

If this is your first time, you are probably unintentionally tensing your muscles and that makes it next to impossible to get it in. One thing that helped when I was having difficulties, was to stand, put one leg on the side of the bathtub and insert it then. Was harder to tense muscles that way. Good luck.

Just relax. Take a deep breath. Try using the junior size or smallest size available.
