Suppose there were two muslims:
Both oppose the war in iraq
both oppose the patriot act
both support universal health care
both want to protect the Alaskan Wilderness
both are pro-choice
both support gay rights
(i.e., I agree with their politics)
One is still muslim
one is a converted Christian
I would vote for the one who is still a Muslim, because converted Christians scare me a lot more (no, I don't have kids in Jesus Camp)

No. Not the way life is right now. Ask this question again when Muslim and US relations are in better shape.
Edit: I'm answering this on the basis the person converted. I mentioned this before, from knowledge I gained from talking to wonderful Muslim in the Private college I recently graduated from. I would completely say no if the person was Muslim still, because their religion keeps them from seperating Church and State. And if they weren't conservative in their Muslim belief would try to convert our laws to conform with Muslim laws.
In no way am I saying I don't like Muslims, because I do, and I know quite a few of them.

Well, I would not vote for a Muslim for president of the United States, no. But if he was a Christian (I dont fully understand the second part of your question, do you mean Arab that converted to Christianity?) but yes, I would vote for a Christian, but not a muslim, especially not during these times we are in. But I feel that their law superceeds all other laws, and church state seperation would be ruined if a Muslim were to be president

Yes I would support a Muslim, just the same way people supported the Christian fundamentalism of Bush.. Look what damage that has done to the USA.

Because I understand that because being a Muslim does not make you at terrorist, and that their are thousands of Loyal American Muslims who would sacrifice their lives for our nation..
if A Muslim candidate was running for President and I felt they had the qualification to lead our nation.. than why not?

Sure, no problem. You forget or are too young when the GOP was saying John Kennedy was going to be controlled by the Vatican. Being a Muslim does not eliminate someone from having character.
"Even if he has converted to Christianity since his birth" - what is that about? Like the Nazis saying if you had one grandparent who was a Jew, you were a Jew.

do you mean to say a person of Arab decent?
because as already pointed out if he converted to Christianity then he could not be a Muslin.
but as you asked No I would not vote for a "Muslim" for President of the USA
so in closing I suggest that you re-phrase your question so it is understandable

Sure. If they converted to Christianity they are no longer Muslim. It's obvious you don't understand what being a Christian means. It's not a race. It's a belief. At birth you don't know what you believe. As such you cannot be Christian at birth. Your parents may be.

Probably not !!!
I'd always be concerned that he would 'convert' to Radical Islam !!
Would ANYONE have voted for a Japanese/American during or after WWII ???
How about a Russian/American during the 'Cold War' ?
How about a Viet Cong in the 60's or 70's, during or after the war ?
