until it is medically proven to cause or contribute to cancer and abnormal cells the answer is no

It can.

Although rare, birth control shots have been linked to cervical cancer and other complications in the past. If you're worried, there may be new types of the shot that are safer or have lessened risk. Ask your doctor about it.

I had the pill injection for years and was never warned of anything like that.

No it has never been proven to do either.
