All the answers above have told you the stars are still there, which is true, but haven't told you the whole story of why you cant see them in the daytime. If there were no atmosphere (as on the moon) you could see them and the sun (our star) because the "sky" would be jet black not blue. It is the light from the sunlight being scattered by eddies of particular molecular dimensions in the atmosphere that makes the sky blue. The eddies are of just the right size to refract blue wavelengths. On mars the sky is pink.because the thin carbon dioxide atmosphere scatters red wavelengths which are longer..

Still stars. The stars are just shrouded by light coming from the Sun because it is nearer and in effect is brighter.
The concept is simple: if there was no Sun, the only thing you can see up there are stars 24 hours.
I have heard about people seeing stars at daytime and even an auroras. Well the didi it by looking from a well (?) to remove light interference.

The stars are there but its like trying to see a candle in the day from several feet away. The Sunlight is so overpowering that you dont even see the Stars

The stars are up there in the daytime too. They just aren't bright enough to see.

The only difference in the sky is that huge star that blocks out all the others. That and the stars are still 'travelling' around the sky as usual.

thank you mad mac for explaining. Im reading everyones answer and no one really explained it. BLUE SKIES PEOPLE!!! atmospheric reflection. Sun reflecting the blue part of the spectrum off of water molecules in the atmosphere. as for the constellations, it is different through out the year just as it is during the night. so they are pretty much the same just at different times of the year.

Paulette: you have to be a blond (please say you are, or my faith in brunettes etc is going to wane very rapidly!).
The stars are there all the time. Do you think that God puts them away in a big box when the sun comes up??
They are there, but you just can't pick them out because of the brighter light from the sun.

The stars are still there, you just can see them because the light of the sun overwhelms them. Stars don't cease to exist just because they can't be seen.

everything you see at night is there in daytime but you just cannot see it because the light from the sun outshines the relatively faint light from the other bodies in space
