I have already paid the bank back they put me on the check list after they took their money out and had a balance for $164.00
which I had to go back and get my money out of the bank. Now since I am on the list it is hard to get any other bank to let me open a checking account/

What is the Check System List? I've never heard of that.

Try any and every bank you can. Here in Colorado, there is a bank called TCF that seems to approve everyone and give checks out to anyone that signs up. The only problem with that is they now have a reputation of doing that and a lot of places won't accept checks if drawn on that bank.

You could go back to your original bank. Admit you made a mistake, acknowledge the fact that you want to try and correct it, and go from there.

Also, if you have a Chase bank branch nearby, go talk to them. I recently signed up a new checking account with them after I totally ruined my credit score. They put me on what is called the Chase Access Checking account. There is a $10 maintenance fee for the first year during what they called a probationary period, and I can't use my debit card for purchases if my balance falls under $100, only ATM withdrawls. But these restrictions are only to protect themselves since they view me as a higher risk now.

Good luck.

I do not know what the check system list is, but I had a g/f who had the same problem, due to a bad credit report.

I recommend getting a full time job (if you are out of school)
and after a short period, go talk to your bank about direct deposit.
If the problem is connected to your bank, then work out an agreement while you are sitting down with a bank rep.
I also recommend dressing nicely for your sit down.

I moved about 4 or 5 years ago, and wanted to open an account in Janesville,WI. at BlackHawk Credit Union
I was in work clothes, and my wifes schedule prohibited us from going in together during business hours...
I have never been treated as rudely as that instance when trying to do business with somebody.
The account representative actually started to look down her nose at me at one point...I have never set foot in the building again! I know a great man that works there, but I refuse to do busness with the bank.
I then opened my account in Brodhead and have had the BEST service that I could ever ask for!

Do not lose heart simply because somebody doesn't want to work with you... It is THEIR loss!

But remember that you only get ONE first impression, use it wisely!
