I made the mistake of downloading Windows 11 a week ago (after being prompted) and I can no longer burn tracks from the player to CD. First I insert a blanc cd into. Then a window pops up informing me that I have a blanc disc in (F) drive. I then organise a burn list. I then press 'start burn' and my cd is ejected. A message pops up 'Please insert a blanc disc, once media player detects the new disc it will automatically start burn.'
I re-insert the disc and the first window pops up again: informing me that I have a blanc disc in F drive. I then go round in a loop experiencing the same problems. I have tried several new blanc cd's but computer still says no.. I have checked the WMP 11 trouble-shooting list but I haven't found my problem. Can someone please help?

Thanks

I presume you are using Nero burning software. I advise against installing Roxio software, I guarantee it will compound your problems. Does Nero burn CD's OK from files on your hard drive? If so you may have a plugin bug.
HMMMMMMM! think i'll delay updating my media player. They might even have put in some copyright stuff. Why don't you do a system restore to WMP10?

Is your CD writer working with data files on these CDs? I have a problem with the blue coated CDs and have to stick to Sony or Imation or it's just misery.

When your PC says it can see the blank CD try clicking the option that says 'open writeable CD folder for writing' or similar.

Also check if Windows Media Player 11 is recognising that your CD writer is drive F. I have two CDs in my PC, one reader and one writer, and programe often need a helping hand to determine which one to use to write.

'Computer sez no...'

Might be worth downloading the Roxio software to burn them instead - It even has a drag and drop function for files which is really handy. The WMP burn functions seem simple but it often does that to me too - haven't worked out why yet and I've ruined too many blank CDs!

Have you tried going to the data music file itself and doing it through Windows Explorer rather than directly through WMP - might be worth a shot to see if it gets around the software being stupid.
