If you live in California that would be a California Roll.
I love Sushi, so I believe it is all good.
Although once I was slightly annoyed when the chef took the rest of the roll he made for me and placed it in the 50 gallon fish tank in at the Sushi Bar.

There are many lighter flavored fishes and cooked sushi items that are perfect for beginners. There is a great webpage devoted to sushi for beginners at:
http://sushifaq.com/sushiforbeginners.ht...
that lists all types of sushi that are great starting points for neophytes.

Most people who have any concerns about sushi are concerned about the raw fish aspect. You can ask the waitstaff about cooked sushi, which includes shrimp, egg, and often other types depending on the menu offered at the particular restaurant.

Start out with a California Roll which doesn't include raw fish. If you like it, then maybe try a Salmon or Tuna roll and go from there. Enjoy.

Even though sushi has raw fish, it's still safe to eat. I believ they dip it in some sort of acid. Don't count on that, though. It's just what I heard.

Look at the ingredients and get a roll of just that kind of seafood. For instance, a crab roll. Crab meat or imitation, rice, seaweed. That's it. Good to start out, like... Tuna roll - just tuna.

Try salmon or tuna, this is from someone who has a Korean wife and likes to eat a lot of raw seafood.

spicy tuna rolls and the fried shrimp rolls are not so scary for beginners. but they all pretty good personally I don't like the fishy tasting one like the salmon but its fun to just try everything and if you don't like one just suck on a little tiny bit of the ginger and the taste will be gone!
