A) If you're a practicing Christian, Easter IS the biggie.

B) But Christmas, being seen as a season rather than a single holiday, allows time for a lot more celebrating, a lot more good fellowship and a lot more money to make Madsion Ave. happy. Naturally, it's gonna get the most press. People LIKE excuses to get together and eat, drink and be merry.

in western european societies we seem to have gravitated toward the birthday of a little baby as the more meaningful holiday, over the one with the bloody guy hanging dead on a cross. eastern orthodox goes more for the easter holiday, in all fairness, emphasizing the mystical aspect of the resurrection.

Holiday...you mean religious holiday. Yes, Easter is the biggest religious holiday in the Church. Hannukah is also not the biggest religious holiday for the Jewish religion, however, it's the one most non-educated people equate with them.

Make it a big gift giving affair, and see how big and commercialized it becomes--as big as Christmas.
