The recommended amount is at least eight 8 ounces galsses of watera day. This will not ony help keep you hydrated, it will help decrease the incidence of constipation, and keep your skin looking younger.
As for the comment byderule made about not overdosing on water. Yes, you can. It's not easy to do, but as a nurse I have treated a couple of people who did overdo it. This is usually in the summer when the weather is hot and the person was outside and drinking up a storm. Water intoxication starts out just like alcohol intoxication, but can proceed very quickly to a life threatening situation.
Follow your doctor's advice on the amount of fluids you should drink and keep in mind that coffee, tea and soda have caffeine that can actually lead to dehydration if you are drinking a lot of them.

We all are supposed to drink 6-8 glasses daily, Lord knows we don't though. I would carry a bottle where ever you go. Even if it is juice, it is good for the baby as well. Especially when you get the dry heaves! Lots of luck to you and baby,
Just stay away from the soda/caffeinated beverages you should be fine.

I believe 8 for most everyone. If you exercise or sweat a lot you need more. If your thirsty you are already dehydrated and not drinking enough water. If you plan to breastfeed which is best for baby and mommy, (helps baby with immune system and they don't get sick a lot - like ear infections - and mommy because breastfeeding burns calories - it take a lot of calories to make milk!) anyway if you breastfeed you should always have a glass of water when you sit to feed because you get thirsty and it helps your body make milk!

Just drink when you're thirsty. Your body knows how much it needs. But carry water with you because otherwise it's too easy to ignore thirst if it's not convenient, and it's annoying to stand over a drinking fountain drinking until you're really not thirsty anymore.

You can drink as much as you like, but remember to eat as water can make you feel full and you need more calories when pregnant from food sources
