If you're telling your friend that for advice, I'd say the guy would probably turn on you. "What, leave me to get eaten?" at least I would. As a joke, it's a good one.
Have you heard though about what really to do when getting chased by a bear? Turn around, stand your ground, and slap his nose. Supposedly, bears and other wildlife mammals will run away if you do that! (or I could try some of my karate...lol)

It goes like this: "You don't have tu run faster than the bear, you just have to run faster than the slowest person running from the bear."
That way you don't sound as mean as if you were betraying your "friend"

It's a good joke (maybe a fair joke), but as advice it is poor, unless you are an actor. Cause then nobody is really your friend.

Ohhh... That's just rude... you should distract the bear by giving your friend as pray.
