This is the first year in a long, long time where I've felt happier and more joy this Christmas season -- but the reason for that is:

As a Long-Term Single Parent (of Two disabled children -- and my income was the ONLY thing that provided for them), I had to deal with so much more stress and greed during the holidays -- and so little in the way of 'thankfulness' (which is typical for teens/young adults).

Now, FINALLY, as an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree, there is very little of that in my life this Christmas Season, no more greed, no more do I have to put up with 'friends' of them demanding things in MY HOME of me -- and I can definitely enjoy the PEACE, QUIET, and JOY of the season (the true spirit of Christmas).

No! As some have mentioned-it just feels different. Only a few home owners have put up lights this year when everyone used to. I haven't heard much holiday music either-none on the square in town. Folks aren't out shopping like they used to and some will not be traveling this year as they did in the past. Even the gifts of giving to the less fortunate are way down.
Even the weather isn't adding to the holidays-less or no snow in many areas of the world and spring flowers are blooming there.
I hate to think this is going to be the Christmas that never was.

Actually the christmas spirit this year for me is the one and only holiday I have been looking forward to since I have been little. I normally don't finish my christmas shopping till the day before and I actually have had mine done since Thanksgiving. I am with the love of my life and he has the best family you could ever ask for. I guess what I am getting at is that I will be able to spend my christmas with the one I love and two great family's.

I'm ok but my wife is VERY much into it this year! I am surprised because she has endured a very horrible homicide in her household at Christmas time during her childhood. She hasn't liked the holiday ever since, but for some reason this year, she's driving around singing X-Mas songs, put up the tree and decorations... I am really surprised! I hope all of my support has helped her to start enjoying the season after the horrible tragedy in her house all those years ago. These days her idiot father typically ruins the holidays with his temper, but this year he won't be joining us. (YAAAAY!)

for me its about the entire relations coming at the same time. I somewhat have cousins that stay elsewhere and that i hardly get to be certain them and that is what the holidays are for. to illustrate, my dads relations lives on the east coast and that i stay on the west coast. I somewhat have in problem-free words gotten to be certain them once that i visit keep in concepts and that replaced into on Thanksgiving 7 years in the past. each and every thanksgiving it brings lower back concepts. It brings you in the route of relations, it makes you comprehend how worthwhile relations is. the holidays are about relations, and the happiness others get once you provide. Its all about giving. maximum folk do not spend plenty on the holidays anymore. My relations now attracts names for christmas. That way all and dissimilar isn't spending that a lot. And the quantity we spend on human beings can in problem-free words be as a lot as $15. It saves all and dissimilar a good type of money. Christmas for me is likewise about looking lower back on the previous Christmas's and the laughs we've shared. it truly is likewise about remembering the those that are not with us anymore. Its about cherishing the moments at the same time as a relations, all at the same time.

I don't have any holiday spirit this year for some reason. It's not like I haven't tried though. Maybe it's the oddly warm weather?
