Hi, I am 23 weeks pregnant and for a few years have had "low grade lesions" on pap results. Has anyone else had these? I had my biopsy yesterday and was pretty nervous about it because I am pregnant. If anyone else has gone through this, what I wonder is what do they do if it comes out cancerous? Or what if it isn't? How do they treat this condition? Thanks in advance for any advice... Merry Christmas!

Hey, I'm currently going through the whole pap biopsy routine myself. I didn't happen to be pregnant while worrying about this though, but I do know a few things that may help. If there is something there it probably hasn't developed into cancer at this point, the docotrs have been keeping an eye on your condition from the sounds of it, and they like to zap this stuff before it turns ugly. As you are pregnant they will not be doing much in the way of treatment until after as this could cause premature labor. But don't worry, it is most likely not aggressive and so the fourish months you have left of pregnancy will not be enough time for it to turn ugly. At this time they will probably remove the funny cells with a laser, freezing, or if they are deeper in the cervical tissue, by a cone biopsy. These procedure are all highly successful, the cone biopsy being the least desireable becasue it takes enough tissue out of the cervix to potentially impair your ability to carry a child in the future. But it could save your life in the long run, so hey! Usually treatment ends here, the naughty cells have been removed and therefore can't propagate futher. If not, well, you may have to consider more serious options, but I can almost guarantee that it will never get there. So hang in there! You and your baby will be fine, doctors usually keep a good handle on these things and so everything should be okay for treating after the baby and not now... GOOD LUCK!! Just keep on top of it and you'll be okay!

at the same time as i became prego with my 2d they stumbled on highgrade dysplasia on my cervix. i went to a gynoncologist and he informed me that once prego the dysplasia (precancerous cells ) commonly worsen at the same time as prego. i'd not hassle noticeably with low grade. I actually have had many biopsy of my cervix, Leep technique (melonballing my cervix) and so on. to be honest i guess after prego over your cervix will go back to favourite.. congrats on infant

i had a biopsy on november 1 and conceived on october 28...it was b/c they detected pre-cancerous cells in my uterus....results came back and it was fine...people get these types of pap smears back all the time!...an abnormal pap smear000they always think cancerous cells....and you can have abnormal pap smears for silly reasons like having sex the night before (sperm still inside of you) etc.....dont worry, you will be fine ; just pray...i know your probably in a uproar...just pray and think for the best
god bless and congrats

I can't give advice because I haven't been there, and I am sorry you are going through this, but I will hope for the best for you and your baby. Merry Christmas.
