Hi, I am 23 weeks pregnant and for a few years have had "low grade lesions" on pap results. Has anyone else had these? I had my biopsy yesterday and was pretty nervous about it because I am pregnant. If anyone else has gone through this, what I wonder is what do they do if it comes out cancerous? Or what if it isn't? How do they treat this condition? Thanks in advance for any advice... Merry Christmas!

pregnancy can cause this and it can make it go away. but, let's say that it doesn't go away. here is what will happen... first of all, my dr. told me that abnormal has a 40% chance of turning cancerous. the first thing the will do usually is a colposcopy. this will show them where the abnormal cells are. they might leave everything else to be done until after you have had the baby. the next things they will do is the leep, the frozen cone, or a cone biopsy. the leep and the frozen cone is to scrape away the bad cells. the cone biopsy actually is surgery and they cut out a piece of your cervix. once they have done all of these, there is an 80 % chance that all of your abnormal cells will be gone. if not, they will do a hysterectomy. i know that sounds harsh, however it is better than having cancer. i so far have had the colposcopy and the cone biopsy. if the cone biopsy dodn't work, i get my results next week. they will then do the frozen cone. they did mine backwards, because my abnormal cells were in my canal. i also had high grade as opposed to low grade. you should be absolutely fine and good luck.

when i was prego with my 2nd they found highgrade dysplasia on my cervix. i went to a gynoncologist and he told me that when prego the dysplasia (precancerous cells ) usually get worse when prego. i wouldn't worry especially with low grade. i have had many biopsy of my cervix, Leep procedure (melonballing my cervix) etc. to be honest i bet after prego over your cervix will go back to normal.. congrats on baby
