He favored construction of a nuclear bomb before WW II even started to ensure that the Nazis didn't do it first. I mean, we celebrate Columbus Day, even though he was essentially just taking a vacation, in fact a paid vacation. Lets bomb (pun intended) Congress with e-mails demanding consideration for this oversight.

Usually the day when a famous person is born is not a national holiday, but the day when they did a great thing is a national holiday.For example in my country when Sándor PetÅfi, a revolutionary was born is not a holiday but the day when his revolution began is a holiday. I think when somebody is born, nobody knows he will becomes a hero or a terrorist, but when he does a great thing, we know it.
But it's a good idea.

In that case why don't we celebrate Isaac Newton day? Aristotle day? Socrates day? Archimedes day? Boyle day? Maxwell day?
They all contributed greatly and the technological advancements we have made are greatly due to these people.....
See my point? Einstein couldn't have done diddly squat without the works of the above people.

I think his birthday isn't a public holiday because he didn't really contribute much to the country but to science.And for a public holiday i think you must at least be quite senior in the goverment.

I don't think thats a good idea. He made contributions but many other people have made contributions and it is not a national holiday.
