Is this a good place to live? What are the good/better parts - closer to Ft. Jackson or closer to Lake Murray?

I have only been through Columbia with an overnight stop.
I really don't remember that much about it.
But when I research a place I like to check the towns official site and/or their visitors bureau site, gives me a feel for it.

well.. i used to live there, it's a nice place in my opinion, a safe city, compared to lots of the others. it's not that big, and also it's not that fun, there is not a lot of entertainment, but it's still a good place to live in. good luck.
