We like to say we are free, but we are not. The concept is completely different than the practice. However, this is no reason to abandon the principle.
Peace.
EDIT: I see there is some disagreement and I'd like to point out that a major newscaster was fired!!!! from his job of over 30 years for giving a negative report on Bush's military service. So much for freedom of the press!!!
Economic freedom, PLEASE!!! Many groups are relegated to low paying dead end jobs with no chance of advancement.
TRAVEL, surely you are joking!?!?!?!? One has to practically strip at the airport and our movements are continuously tracked in the interest of "protection."
You cannot have protection and freedom at the same time. The USA is currently under the false misconception that we can have both.
Peace.

We are free to make decision that will decide how successful we` are in life. We are free to travel without documents in our own borders, we are free to move to any state that we wish to live, we are free to decide our vote, if we choose to vote, we have freedom of speach (except stupid stuff like yelling fire in a theater), We have freedom of the press, Yes we pay taxes, some that I think are wrong, but if you think that we are not free........try it somewhere else!

To the people that think we're not free:
Putin has placed the Hammer and Sickle seal of "freedom" on all Russian military vehicles.....
The average Chinese seems content, as do most educated Venezuelans.....
Lot of freedom in Iran too...........
I see that I'm not the only Idiot on this board

I should have the freedom to inhale what I want and I can't. This makes me sad.

We are nowhere near free, that's just propoganda, nationalism. If you think we're free, just see what happens if you don't give over a whole bunch of the money YOU EARNED to the government, and the reason you do it is because you HAVE to.
