It shouldn't be, and i many cultures it really isn't. The problem as I see it (and I love to be naked, so I've got an interest in this issue) is that many people in our society equate all forms of nudity with sex. The fail to realize that nudity and sex may be related at times, but are also very un-related at other times.
I spend lots of time at the nude beach, and although we're all naked, there's probably less of a sexual overtone than at a regular clothed beach.
Many of us believe that nudity is awesome in appropriate places, such as at a beach, pool, sauna, hot tub or simply lying outside on a warm sunny day. Nothing sexual about it...it's just being naked and enjoying the feeling.
It's even more weird to realize that in many places it's still illegal for us to be topless in public, even though it's OK for guys. Girls can actually be arrested for the "crime" of showing our bare boobs! How crazy is that?
I live in NY where it's OK for girls to be topless anyplace a guy can be, and I've done it a few times, which was pretty cool. But you should see the mean looks and foul comments...especially from middle aged women!
Until people get past the idea that all nudity is some form of sexual perversion, we'll be fighting this battle for a long time.
Bare hugs...

Because it's cold, for one thing.
Plus, you don't want people to see all your rude bits, do you? You have to keep a little something under wraps.
