You have one of those image discs, there is nothing you can do with those. They just format the drive and copy the image on to the hard drive. You should only restore if there is an irreversible problem. After backing up all your data. If it isn't Windows then there should be a way to reinstall the other software( in explorer right click on the cd drive an chose explore their might be a readme file).

Good day. Where are u egtting this message, when u restart the computer and boot from the CD Rom or when u run the CD Within windows? If there is no option at all where u can restore windows without formatting, i suggest u take out your hard drive, put it on another computer(prefarably Windows XP, Avoid 98 & ME) as a secondary disk so it will come up as a D or E Drive in the my computer folder, pull out your important stuff, format the disk prefarably NTFS, put it back on your computer and reinstall windows. See its all depends on the problem you have, it your OS is crashed then you need to reinstall the OS. I am not sure that any vendor give a restore CD, its just reinstall the OS. you always restore those things for which you take the backup. While inserting the CD it will ask you to overwrite/format the disk and reinstall without formatting the disk. But in all cases you will have to reinstall all the softwares you had on your PC

Do you have just the one CD? If so there should be a so called repair program that will overwrite all the Windows files and supposedly correct any corrupted ones. Also check the Format as some of them will lead to another page that gives you options of what to do. Do you have a repair sector on your hard drive?

Gee, what did you think RESTORE meant?

It puts the computer back to the virgin status as it was shipped out of the factory!

Why not run http://pclinuxos.com live in the CDrom!?
