Here it is...
Why can't most people cannot follow the concept that the human race started in AFRICA and we are all the same?
The oldest human remains were found in Eastern Africa (Ethiopia) -whoever migrated to other continents did so due to the inner need to always "find better"...
Truth is there is no such thing-and it's pure greed and competitiveness that drove people into what they did and still do today.
NO ONE person is better-no one "race" is better than the other...etc-
Classification like those are useless and do nothing but steer away from the truth-
The "color" of our skin and the slight diffrences in physical appereance are only due to our bodies adapting to the diffrent enviroments over time...
I doubt people will ever really and truly come to terms with this...what is your opinion?

I don't agree with the first 2 answers...not all that work for a living have respect nor education nor common sense. What oppurtunities are you talking about? You said after they were "given" the chance...etc. WHO GAVE WHO WHAT oppurtunity? If you're going to make a statement like that say what is really in on your mind- NO SUGAR COATING REQUIRED>

Yes, as you know, geneticists have now proved that we are all africans. The most surprising thing is that we are all so closely related. There appears to be no neanderthal in us; all of us are descended from a common ancestor who lived about 60,000 years ago.
This does need more publicity. The fact that we are all brothers and sisters should help to diffuse racism, genocide, and all sorts of artificial "differences" that we create between ourselves. In fact, it now seems clear that race and ethnicity are essentially invalid, in terms of biology.
I certainly hope that man can come to grips with this. But unfortunately, misinformation is everywhere. Theism still has a firm grip on mankind, and people would rather believe what is comforting than try to understand new things like this.

I don't know if I agree that the human race started in Africa, I don't see the relevance of the statement either. However, I do believe that we as humans did indeed migrate from place to place, much like the American Indians or the nomadic people of the middle east. It seems to me that this entire question is based on a racist issue. There is more than skin color and bone structure that separates the races. The most important thing an individual can do is conduct themselves in a manner that is becoming of a productive human being and member of society.Having said that, take a look at all the races and objectively compare conduct, productivity, manner, self-respect, self-reliance, etc., etc. If you can do this OBJECTIVELY, then you will see that there are major differences between the races.
There are exceptions to every rule, so spare me the bit on stereo-typing. This is not meant to be a racial slur against any particular ethnic group, merely my observation of events that have transpired in my generation. If you care to dissect this further, email huupjr@yahoo.com.

As said by 6000 Immortal & Young Tamil, still i don't follow why the centre is so adamant on this issue. I guess the only reason is that China is started dominating the Sri Lankans and there are news that the chinese are building some horbour in the northern part of Sri Lanka, which may be harmful for India. India, seeing the chinese participation in Sri Lanka, wants to be friendly with them.

Racism was originally a survival mechanism. It solidified a group in an age where co operation was the only way to survive. These days though, where we don't have to hold a territory to survive, it is a harmful drain of energy and resources.

Personally I don't care where the human race started. I look at the variety of race just as I do the variety of flowers on the beautiful planet. Each one is unique.

I agree with you on the genetic principal. However, racism exists because those who work for a living, treat others with respect and have manners are intolerant of those who are the opposite.
Those with the 'give me' attitude - who are rude and don't want an education after years of opportunities granted to them - finally lose the respect of the cultures who are trying to get on with life.

Well, you can look at the type of ignorance contained in the first reply to your question for an at least partial answer.
