You need to at the very least install a virus detection program. There are lots of pay ones out there (mcafee, norton, panda come to mind).
I use http://free.grisoft.com/doc/avg-anti-virus-free/lng/us/tpl/v5 which is an excellent Free Antivirus program.

Leave Microsoft.com, and download anti-virus software. Even though I do use Windows, you should never trust Microsoft.

how about u google for antiviral software? u can get many for free
and then u run them on ur computer. dont use microsoft, not the best.
