bizarre question-if infants have lower platelet levels, and if there is a correlation between low platelets and autism, could blood platelets have something to do with acquired social boundaries?

Platelets which have passed their lifetime are taken care of by the odies Reticulo Endothelial system(RES) especially wandering macrophages.
Rest are filtered and taken care of by the lymph nodes.

They do not die or get recycled after 10 days. That length of time is how long they are in circulation in the peripheral blood. If the platelets aren't activated in those ten days they are sequestered in the spleen.

Platelets have only to do with blood coagulation. They are destroyed by the spleen.

Eventually like everything else of no use to the body, they are passed from the system, through defecation or urination.
