I ran into the same thing two years ago when we bought a new house. Our old pots and pans tended to leave black marks on the white stove surface, even if nothing spilled. We have had good luck with good quality pyrex glass cookware. They make it with non stick coatings on the inside, and they work really well.

Good luck.
