a bit like somebody's just said about the zoo/animal charily.. why not take out to one - the zoo/safari/animal sanctuary, where you can pull out all the stops for her by spending a special day treating her on this trip, learning about the animals she sees and also it'll be good for you to bond with her more. i'm proposing the idea of doing the same for my nephews (11 & 8 yo) as they they don't normally get that many presents on the day, just a load of money - a lot of relatives are too lazy/unthoughtful to go out and get a present..am thinking of taking them to the Space Centre in Leicester. If you live nr London, go to any one of the museums (Science one is great hands-on type.. can spend all day there myself!! or the Natural History one).. email me if you want more ideas, ok ... hope it goes well for you in whatever you choose

You don't say how much you want to spend, so it's a bit difficult to start making suggestions. If you are UK based, there is a website called toyopia.co.uk that has a toy selector based on age, sex of child, as well as price, which might help you. Prices are pretty good too! It's also possible to ring and speak to the folk who run this website, so you could try ringing and asking their advice?
Personally for active kids like her, outdoor toys are a good idea, and although it might get more use in the summer, 'Swingball' is great, because they don't necessarily need a partner to play it with them. But, as it comes with it's own base, it can be used anywhere, even when the ground is frosty and hard!
At 10, girls are getting quite fashion and trend conscious, so vouchers for a popular clothing store might be an idea. There's a lot of Spongebob(?) stuff around and it seems to be universally popular with girls aged 10 - 20! (Don't ask me why - just going on what my kids tell me!)
If you can give me some idea of how much you want to spend etc, I might be able to come up with some more ideas! (I'll ask the 'experts' here!)

Its no longer your fault, those days little ones assume blackberry's and laptops. and those are fairly intense priced. perchance, you ought to get her a present card to some clothing shops, or only walmart or some thing the position she will purchase stuff she likes. Its also reliable because she cant say she would not like it, She often is the single picking it out! yet in case you do not opt to get her a giftcard, I propose some cool notebooks for college, or books. My common author is Sharon Creech. She has reliable books for each age. i appreciate: Chasing Redbird. Its reliable for 10 365 days olds. some rather notebooks and college resources paintings too: at staples they have calculators shaped like ft, or fingers and stuff. they are fairly fairly gorgeous! and that i remeber a pair years in the past at the same time as i became in grade 5, i became continuously jelous of the children who had them..:p perchance a sparkling backpack for college would also be reliable. some reliable shops to get giftcards at are storage, continuously 21, Claires, Icing in any case, desire I helped!

You should get her a nature kit or something. Then, she'll be out and about and will be learning about animals etc too.
Look on the internet for ideas and maybe check some old catologues (Argos is quite good and browsing through Toys R' Us! is quite good for shopping for young children)

Maybe a book about animals with furry pages and all that could do. Or some games that could challenge a mind of a 10 yr old?

Don't know how much you want to spend but what about adopting her an animal at the local zoo? You should find details on their website or through animal charities who do similar things...
