The best is Startlogic (startlogic.com)
however there are many out there that are good such as powweb, yahoo hosting, bluehost. For full features chart> http://www.interkeys.com/tophosts

It's up to you how developed a site you want and what kind of features you need. Basic hosting = startlogic is overall the best value.

I'll tell you who the best is - http://www.DependableHost.net

They're AWESOME! Customer service / knowledgeable staff are top-of-the-line! They care about you as a customer, and want to keep your business - and it shows!

After I signed up, you get a dedicated account rep who is your source if you have complains / problems. I get a call from my rep every few months just to check up and see how things are working, and to make sure I'm happy. Any support ticket that I've submitted was answered literally in minutes.

Server uptime has been 100% for 1.5 years now - I've never had any downtime. They have monitoring staff on the servers 24x7x365 who watch security issues, performance, and to make sure that services stay running.

I'm not kidding - they are the best! I've been with the "big" hosts before, and will never ever go back. They make so much money - they could care less about your business. If my site went down with one of these "big" hosts - it took HOURS (im not kidding) for them to get it back up.

I'll never search for another host!

I used Sectorlink a few years ago... They were okay and customer service was good. Up time was good. Their email system was HORRID... and still is pretty diabolical.

I use Peoplehost now and their uptime is good to. The hosting is CHEAP and customer service is just ok... nothing spectacular. Their website isn't very helpful and their email system can be a bit daunting. But nothing so bad that I would change at the moment. The price is too good to argue with.

I would like to try Yahoo or a name that is a bit more reputable on my next venture. But for now Peoplehost are okay for me! Good luck.

If you are looking for a cheap web host I recommend,
MR SITE
(www.mrsite.co.uk)
They offer excellent service and features all at a very reasonable cost.

I've been using Host Gator around 4 years.
http://www.hostgator.com
$24.95 a month, I can host unlimited domains.
They have smaller packages if you only want to host one site.
Customer service is important and they are available 24/7.
Not affiliated with them. Just a happy customer.

there is no such thing as a best host. It's subjective. It depends on the sort of website you want to host, the features you need (sql? php?) and where the majority of the audience will be.

Do you just need hosting, or do you need a virtual or dedicated server?

Linux or windows?

There are a bajillion things to think about.

In my opinion, if your web site is just personal, all about you, etc. (a personal home page), Geocities is the best. If your website is for business, I would suggest GoDaddy.
