I totally agree with you. Alcohol impairs a person worse than pot ever could. Meth is probably the worst drug now. It's so addictive and makes people crazy and dangerous.
Like Holland, I think all drugs should be legalized. That would take the criminal element out of it.

I do not know if you have this problem in the UK but here in the US the worst drug and one that has become a nightmare is crystal meth ie crank. The ease of making the drug and it is relatively cheap. It is highly addictive even more so than crack cocaine...in fact some people call it the poor man's crack. Users will stay up days at a time, become paranoid scar their faces from scratching imaginary crawling bugs on their faces and eventually loose their teeth for lack of care.
It is also one of the most addictive drugs with over 90 percent of the users who quit going back to using. In the Portland Oregon area 85 percent of the property crimes are related to crystal meth. When a meth lab blows up it can cause some horrible burns to the person in the lab.
This does not even mention the damage it does to families and children who end up in foster care.

Sorry I can't speak for the UK - I'm in the US. But I totally agree with you. Alcohol is so damaging physically; But yet it is legal, and most of all it is extremely enjoyable. I, myself, have always enjoyed marijuana. Affordable, relaxing, and easy to hide. The downfalls are the semll of it, and the fact that I have asthma. I believe the very worst drug of all is cocaine. I mean, how dare people market a drug with such amazing effects, and then make it so fvcking expensive that you can't even afford it. My favorite all time drug back in the day was mescaline. I used to trip and sit in front of the tv & watch Golden Girls and laugh my a** off. Oh...the memories. Ya know, I'm glad they are not legal. Marijuana could be legal. I think it may be safer than alcohol. But thats my story, and now I do NOT do any drugs except those prescribed by my shrink because I'm a nut-case. Excellent question!

i've enjoyed many a night out using recreational drugs and i have to agree that speed is filthy. nasy come downs, horrible sweats, rots yer teeth.just vile stuff. e is my drug of choice closely followed by cocaine. i'd do coke more often but it's so morish it's easy to get into it's grips.... heroin to me always seemed more of a lifestyle choice than a recreational drug, and those that occasionally use drugs would agree i think.
all drugs cause problems of some kind or another - cannabis use can lead to depression and pyschosis, yet is is considered a 'safe' drug as it occurs naturally rather than it's laboratory created counterparts.
you are never going to halt the use of recreational drugs, and i'm a firm believer that young people should be made aware of how to minimise problems while taking theses substances. for example the hooley surrounding leah betts - tragic accident that could have been avoided if only she realised that while you should drink water while taking e, to flood your system is as dangerous as not taking in any.... to de-criminalise many drugs is foolish, education is the key to 'safer' drug use.

RECREATIONAL is the key word here. thinks like heroin, crack, meth, coke should really be avoided but i like to smoke a joint, take mushrooms in the autumn, maybe the odd half gram of amhetamine once or twice a year. look at the answers after mine. you always get some sanctimonius pr!ck who will be quick to judge anybody who takes a 'drug' but will drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes or be on 'medication' from their doctor...but no! they're not on 'drugs' are they? i've already said what i dabble in. i have a nice house, a good solid stable marriage, a good job, my kids all do well in school, i cycle 60 miles a week, i've never hurt, robbed, raped or stolen from anyone...need i go on? in fact i'm probably more drug (as in chemicals) free than most folk who'll judge me. i don't even take paracetomol. i avoid food with additives and preservatives, eat well and exercise so to answer your question, the answer is NO!

GLOBAL OVERVIEW OF RECREATIONSLA DRUG USE & HIV:
There are many different recreational drugs available and the popularity of each varies around of the world, as does the popularity of injecting. Many people who use non-injected drugs are also at high risk of exposure to HIV, not through the use of the drugs themselves but through unsafe sexual behaviour.
It is estimated that in 2004, 4% of the worldwide population used cannabis, 1% used amphetamine type stimulants (ATS), cocaine, or opiates. These data also give an indication of frequency of drug use: 200 million people (4.9%) used drugs annually, 110 million people (2.7%) monthly, and 25 million people (0.6%) more than once a month. 1 The 25 million people who use illegal drugs frequently are usually known as “problem” drug users.

Whilst cannabis has been decriminalised it is very much a gateway drug to the harder and nastier stuff. I do agree that this happens as I experimented when younger with Class A's just cos my dealer at the time had them...
Worst recreational drug, drinking definitely...smoking is fine in my opinion; I have got to get thoroughly mashed to feel it the following day, but 5 pints of stella later and my head is in a shed the following morning...speed if this is a recreational drug wins hands down at being the worst...but I am not sure whether you can define it as recreational!
Drug policies seem to be working in Uk, they go after the gangs and big boys leaving us recreational users free to party (when we can get it!)

Feel tobacco is the most addicting drug then comes alcohol, smoked weed and can quit anytime. Still smoke weed when I'm in a lot of pain. but can quit anytime. Pain pills are good but very addicting and have some bad side effects.

I'm gonna go with any prescription drug that is misused...xanax, codeine, etc...
The sheer ease at which people get, misuse, and sell this stuff is amazing.
i teach at a high school, and seriously the kids seem like they are always putting something stupid in their bodies....
